Clean-up craft devours cars
A scheme to clean up the UKs River Tyne has celebrated the launch of two new vessels. Local children were tasked with finding a name for the larger debris collection vessel and the winning students chose the name ” Clearwater” .
The smaller vessel has been named the SITA Eater.
Clearwater is equipped with a crane to remove large debris, such as cars and gas bottles, and place it in onboard skips.
SITA Eater uses an ‘opening mouth’ to catch the flotsam in a removable pod, that is emptied by the Clearwater.
