Corus goes north

The terminal will cover six million sq metres and have five areas dedicated to bulk solids, liquids, general cargo, containers and soya, and should take ten years to complete. Capacity at Santos will effectively double from the current level of 60m tons.

The new quays will enable larger vessels to use the port in addition to allowing for multi-use of the berthing facilities for both fishing and cruise vessels. The sheet piling manufacture has started at Scunthorpe Heavy Section Mill and Corus are currently rolling the bar for the anchors before it is processed by the anchor manufacturer Macalloy in Sheffield.
