EU PORTS
The controversial access to port services directive bore an enormous number of amendments for European MPs to consider when they met in the Parliaments transport committee recently – a total of 308.
Involved in the syndicate are Banco Sabadell, Barclays Capital, BNP Paribas, Fortis Bank, HSBC Bank, Santander and Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking, although a total of 22 financial institutions participated in the operation.
Six of these were asking for the draft directive to be discarded outright. 50 more have been tabled by leading MEP for the European People’s Party, Georg Jarzembowski.
Another vote is expected in late November.
