GENOA
Genoa Port Authority will go out to tender over the next two months for the construction and financing of a € 4bn expansion and modernisation plan.
Leading architect, Renzo Piano’s plan involves the relocation of the airport to a new manmade island and the conversion of the old site into a new container terminal.
The port authority is attempting to secure bank funding in exchange for long-term facility concessions. Royal Bank of Scotland, Australia’s Macquarie Bank and a number of Italian banks have expressed interest.
BOT and turnkey models are being considered.
