Go slows undermine Spanish port productivity

In a press release, the organisation said it demands “the immediate cessation of the pressure applied in ports that is taking place as the result of go slows”.

This action, said Anesco, is making it difficult for an agreement to be reached, since productivity has dropped in most Spanish terminals.

“Illegal and covert strikes … seriously damage sector companies and the whole of the port system,” it said.

Anesco was also frustrated in that the government had ignored it when drawing up changes to stevedoring legislation that were passed on May 12. The organisation said that its members should have been consulted when such major changes to the industry were being implemented.

In addition, the employers’ association wants to play an active role in the development of the legislation to ensure that it meets the aims and objectives set out in an initial agreement it had previously reached with the trade unions.
