Marseilles oils the wheels of export
Frances Port of Marseilles is adding to its oil export capabilities with the construction of a ¢ 200m ($294m) refined products depot at its Fos terminal.
Oiltanking Mediaco Marseille, a new company being formed by French and German oil storage specialists, has committed to the project, with the first phase due on stream in 2010. The 800,000 cu m facility – located on an 18-hectare site in the Cavaou zone at Fos – will deliver additional throughput potential of 6m tonnes a year at Marseilles-Fos.
The port is currently the world’s third biggest petroleum port.
