Ravenna to build new box terminal
A feasibility study undertaken on behalf of Ravenna Port Authority has shown that it would be both financially and technically possible to justify deepening the draught of the port to 14.5 metres.
The same study also concluded that it would be viable to build a new container terminal on the Trattaroli peninsular, which would be managed by the Contship Italia group.
The existing Terminal Container Ravenna is already owned by Contship Italia group member LSCT (30%) and Sapir (70%).
Both the draught deepening work and the new container terminal would require investment of ?340m, of which the port authority would provide ?110m and Contship Italia and Sapir 230m.
