Rotterdam cuts workforce

Rotterdam is investing an average of €150m per annum in the period 2002-2012.

The port of Rotterdam is to reduce its workforce by between 10 and 15% over the next four years as a means of boosting its financial position vis-a-vis other European ports. In 2006-2010 annual revenue growth of 4% is to be targeted but this can only be achieved by reducing headcount. In 2004 the port employed 1,316 people. The additional savings will enable ambitious new expansion plans to be implemented.
