Russia to privatise four ports
The Russian government has published a list of companies which it believes would be more efficiently run were they to be transferred to the private sector.
On the list are four ports which the state intends to sell, including the 34% stake it holds in Murmansk. This is an all year round ice-free port handling substantial quantities of oil, coal, minerals, metals and other cargoes. In 2008, it posted profits of ¢22.5m ($32m). It is currently undergoing a ¢3.4bn ($4.9bn) investment programme and reported cargo increases of 12.5% in 2009.
