Valencia keeps up investment programme
In2007, Valencia Port Authority invested more than ¢ 128m ($185.7m) ininfrastructure upgrades and it plans to spend a further ¢ 150m ($217.7m)on average a year for the next two years.
The majority of this finance is needed to fund the northern expansion of the port, with completion of work slated to take 42 months.
A consortium consisting of Acciona and Enrique Ortiz has been allocated the first contract in this area, worth ¢14.49m ($21m). This will involve construction of an additional lane to the connecting port-motorway road.
A tender has also been issued in respect of a study and the subsequent dredging of the existing quays at the port.
