HAROPA Port treated delegates of GreenPort Congress & Cruise 2024 to a port tour of Le Havre.

This tour allowed delegates to learn more about the main port infrastructures and operations. This value-added extra encouraged delegates to further network with other industry experts outside of the conference room.HAROPA Port is the leading port in France and second largest river port in Europe, visited by more than 6000 vessels every year and an average of 16 ships a day.

As France’s leading port for foreign trade containers, it is the number one platform for the import/export of new vehicles, 5th largest port in Northern Europe and the 2nd French port for crude oil deliveries.

The tour started with a view of Jusqu’au Bout du Monde; a sculpture representing artist, Fabien Merellem carrying his young daughter on his shoulders. This sculpture draws an imaginary line to New York City, formerly linked to Le Havre by the Transatlantic Line. A reminder of the diverse history of Le Havre.Further along, delegates were shown oil storage containers that have 2 direct pipelines to Charles De Gaulle airport in order to facilitate the French transportation of gasoline.

At Port 2000, they saw Le Havre’s 21 cranes, each with the capacity to load 25 containers per hour, in action as they loaded 20,000 TEU capacity APL MERLION to begin it’s journey from Paris to China.
