Shawn Kiernan

Shawn Kiernan is the Chief of Dredged Material Management Plan (DMMP) Project Development for the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Port Administration and is responsible for helping to ensure a safe and sustainable dredged material management program for the Port of Baltimore. He previously held the position of Strategic Planner with the Port, where he managed several land and water use planning projects and programs. His work has included planning for marine terminal expansion, port air quality projects, water quality enhancement, dredged material management, and land-side infrastructure improvements. Shawn has also worked as a coastal planner for the New York and the South Carolina Coastal Management Programs where he was involved in dredged material management, waterfront redevelopment projects, ecosystem restoration projects, and coastal land and water use policy.

Shawn is a member of the American Associate of Certified Planners (AICP), a Certified Port Executive (CPE), and holds graduate degrees in Coastal Zone Management and Regional Planning. He lives in Anne Arundel County with his wife and two daughters.
