New year’s greetings from Port Strategy

They demonstrate that this year has been transformative in the advancement of ports and terminal infrastructure, especially with regards to sustainability.

Moreover, they demonstrate how the industry has met opportunities and challenges which have occurred along the way.

Top story this year was New Zealand’s Port of Tauranga, which appointed a new director to its board in 2024.

In second place there were some truths being told at Durban during a legal challenge between APMT/Maersk and ICTSI.

Third place went to Dar es Salaam where there were big questions to answer regarding the concession awarded to Adani Ports to operate the Dar es Salaam Container Terminal.

Looking ahead, 2025 is likely to be another remarkable year for us all, with plenty of new opportunities to explore, the upscaling of existing initiatives and the development of new ones.
