Giant dredgers for Dubai
A joint venture between Boskalis Westminster Middle East and Dredging International will see both companies mobilise some of the biggest trailing suction hopper dredgers in the world for the construction and expansion of Port Rashid, Dubai.
The contract for development company Nakheel is worth approximately AED 2.2 billion (¢390m) and will be executed over the next two and a half years.
The assignment includes a total of approximately 86m cu/m of sand that will be dredged to reclaim 540 hectares of new land. This includes the preparations for the construction of a prestigious new cruise terminal with 3.4 km of quay walls.
