POLA receives development proposals

The Port of Los Angeles (POLA) has received eight proposals from commercial developers looking to redevelop the San Pedro waterfront property, Ports O’Call Village.

The POLA will score proposals for the redevelopment of the San Pedro waterfront property

The 30 acre development site, located along the port’s main channel at the south end of the harbour, includes 3,000 linear feet of rare water frontage and 375,000 sq ft for retail and tourism related uses.

Geraldine Knatz PhD, port executive director, said: “We are very pleased with the number of responses. We received proposals from a variety of respected, experienced and well-financed firms that see great potential and possibility for this unique waterfront site.”

Proposals for the site will be reviewed and scored by a panel assembled by the POLA made up of two port representatives and three redevelopment experts.

Proposals will be scored based on the development strategy, vision for the parcel, experience in developing unique commercial real estate projects and experience working with public agencies.

The panel is expected to recommend a developer to the Los Angeles Harbour Commission by this end of the year.
