Container depots and lines draw swords

United Containers Ltd (UCL) is to introduce an infrastructure levy of between NZ$18.50-$20 per container and the Specialised Container Services Group is pursuing a similar increase but via an overall rise in tariff.

Although both companies say they can no longer absorb increasing costs on top of flat rates, ICLC spokesperson Julian Bevis says the initiatives will “do nothing for the competitiveness of New Zealand’s supply chain”.
