Geraldton seeks expansion feedback

The Western Australian Port of Geraldton has gone out for public consultation on its potential expansion for the next 30 years.

A master plan will focus on the port’s potential role and infrastructure needs for the next three decades, and the port has released a public feedback survey to get the community’s views.

The main objectives of the Pre-Project Master Planning Survey are to find an agreed future layout for the port and to identify operational requirements, while pinpointing any community issues that have to be taken into consideration.

The chair of Mid West Ports, John Elkington, said the new master plan would map out land use options while factoring in industrial estates and the need to protect access corridors to the port.

The early consultation is being undertaken prior to the appointment of project consultants, with the aim of completing the master plan in the first half of 2019.
