New South Wales privatisation rumours quashed

Australias New South Wales state government has announced it has no plans to privatise NSW ports in the short or medium term.

Although the new minister for roads and ports, Duncan Gay, did not rule out privatisation option on a case-by-case basis for the future, he said it was not a key thing on his agenda.

A more pressing issue, he said, was the need to have more integrated and co-ordinated policy, with an integrated transport authority embracing road, rail and port.
