Newcastle invests in bulk boom

The Kooragang 2 and Kooragang 3 berths will be combined into the Newcastle Bulk Terminal. These are the port’s busiest common-user berths, handling fertiliser, meals, alumina, magnetite, cement and a range of bulk liquids.

The project will see a high-capacity ship unloader installed along with new conveyors, plus wharf and electrical upgrades.

The new equipment will mean faster unloading, enable customers to access the berth quicker, reduce vessel turnaround times and move more cargo across the berth.
