Victorian about-face
Victoria’s Liberal-National opposition party is pressing the state government to include the private sector in a fast-tracked plan for a container terminal at the port of Hastings. The party said it would look to possible public-private partnerships, perhaps including the road and rail infrastructure for the port. Previously, the Victorian opposition has opposed plans to bring Hastings under the stewardship of the Port of Melbourne, saying such a measure would have delayed development plans.
