Ghanaian bulk carrier success

The MV Baby Hercules, a bauxite carrier, is a Capesize Bulk Ship with length overall of 240 metres and a draught of 16 metres, the first time a ship of the size has been able to call at the West African port.

Thanks to recent automation equipment installed by Spanish turnkey solutions provider, Bedeschi, the vessel able to load a record 106,530 tonnes of bauxite in just five days.

The equipment supplied by Bedeschi comprised conveyor lines, two ship loaders and an eco-hopper.

Prior to this installation at the dry bulk terminal, the vessel would have taken between 12 and 15 days to complete such a loading, seven to ten days more than it will now spend at the port.
