Valencia promotes cruise services
As cruise becomes more and more important to Valenciaport, the Port Authority of València has participated in two major events to address challenges faced by ports and cruise operators.
Mar Chao, commercial and business development director of the Port Authority of València, and Francesca Antonelli, head of marketing and cruises, represented Valenciaport at the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Spain ‘Ports & Destination’ summit held in Hamburg, Germany earlier this month.
The conference brings members of cruise operators together with representatives from CLIA Spain to explore sustainable solutions such as alternative fuels and energies, and the circular economy.
“Valenciaport has a lot to contribute to sustainability because it has been working for years with all its stakeholders in all these areas,” said Francesca Antonelli.
Following this, members of PAV attended the Seatrade Europe fair, again in Hamburg, to promote the port’s cruise services and berthing facilities.
“The shipping companies confirm us Valenciaport is positioned in their surveys as a pleasant destination for all ages,” said Antonelli.
The ‘Seatrade Europe’ fair is held every two years in Hamburg. It features cruise lines from around the world, together with ports and suppliers from both the river and deep-sea cruising sectors.
In 2023 Valenciaport welcomed 122,000 more cruise passengers than in the previous year.
