ABP and Viterra boost Immingham capacity

This new facility will add 40,000 tonnes of storage capacity, bringing the total undercover storage at the terminal to nearly 80,000 tonnes.

ABP has invested heavily in grain handling operations, including new cranes and landside equipment, to meet customer demand.

“This new warehouse adjacent to deep water berths, will not only increase our storage capacity for Viterra, but also reinforce our position as a leading UK port for the import and export of agri-bulks,” said Andrew Dawes, director of the Humber ports.

“This investment is about creating a more resilient, responsive infrastructure that uplifts key sectors across the economy.”

Viterra operates in 39 countries and markets over 100 million tonnes of agricultural products annually. The company renewed its partnership with ABP in April 2022 with the opening of a new 35,000 tonne storage facility at the Humber International Terminal.

This new facility at Immingham complements additional storage capacity at ABP’s Bulk Park facility, further strengthening the relationship.

Construction of the new storage shed began in September 2024, with completion expected by summer 2025.
