DP World opens Sokhna Logistics Park
DP World has officially inaugurated the Sokhna Logistics Park, marking a major milestone in enhancing Egypt’s position as a leading regional and global trade hub.
Developed in partnership with the UK’s development finance institution and impact investor, British International Investment, the US$85 million investment is part of DP World’s long-term commitment to strengthening Egypt’s trade and logistics infrastructure.
“Our commitment in Egypt goes beyond the port,” said Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, chair and group chief executive of DP World.
“We are building a sustainable, fully integrated logistics ecosystem that offers end-to-end solutions, driving seamless trade flows that boost exports, create jobs and support economic growth.”
The project has been completed in two phases: Phase one is now operational, while phase two is scheduled for launch in Q3 2026, expanding the total area to nearly 300,000 square metres. Once complete, the park will generate more than 300 jobs, doubling the workforce from phase one.
Strategically situated 15 minutes from Sokhna Port in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), the park benefits from SCZONE’s tax and customs exemptions and streamlined trade procedures. With 90 customers in the pipeline and several contracts already signed, business interest has been strong.
The first integrated logistics park in SCZONE, Sokhna Logistics Park provides bonded and non-bonded solutions, on-site customs inspections, real-time visibility and a dedicated DP World customer portal. It will serve key sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, construction, textiles, automotive components and electric vehicles.
Bin Sulayem also announced the start of construction on a US$29 million, 16,000m² cold storage facility in 6th of October City, connected to the logistics park to strengthen Egypt’s cold chain capabilities.
Since 2008, DP World has invested over US$1.3 billion in Egypt, expanding capacity, modernising Sokhna Port and linking it to global supply chains.
