DP World unveils $2.5bn global expansion plans
DP World has announced it will invest US$2.5 billion in 2025 to enhance global port infrastructure and expand its port capacity across four continents.
The logistics giant announced major port construction and marine civils projects in India, Africa, Europe and South America to meet surging demand for resilient supply chains and create seamless trade access.
“Global trade is evolving fast, and we are investing boldly to shape its future,” said Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman and Group CEO of DP World.
“This US$2.5 billion commitment reflects our confidence in long-term trade growth and our determination to build the infrastructure needed to keep the world connected.”
Multiple projects
In India, DP World has begun construction on a US$510 million terminal at Tuna Tekra in Gujarat, featuring a 1.1km berth and annual capacity of 2.19 million teu.
Meanwhile in Africa, the new deep-sea port infrastructure at Banana in the DRC and the US$830 million Ndayane Port in Senegal aims to boost regional trade by attracting larger vessels and cutting transport costs.
For the UK, the US$1 billion expansion of London Gateway will include two new shipping berths and a second rail terminal, positioning it to become Britain’s largest container port by 2030.
Then in Ecuador, a US $140 million berth extension at the Port of Posorja will support dual post-Panamax vessel docking.
The operator said that this strategic epansion will enable it to focus on building a globally connected platform that integrates ports, marine civils and inland logistics to drive better efficiency and competitiveness in world trade.
