Hutchison BEST begins TIN upgrade
Hutchison Ports BEST has begun work to improve and expand capability at the Intermodal Terminal of Navarra (TIN) in Noain, Spain.
Costing around €10 million the project began on 12 May and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Following its successful concession win in September 2024 from Spain’s rail infrastructure manager ADIF, BEST will operate the TIN facility for the next 15 years. The expansion aims to nearly triple the terminal’s area to 42,000 square metres.
“We are very proud to start this expansion work of a project that began years ago in the same place with an inoperative terminal,” said Guillermo Belcastro, chief executive of Hutchison Ports BEST.
“Thanks to our vision and support from our customers, Synergy has connected the Port of Barcelona with six weekly frequencies.”
The upgrade includes two new 550-metre railway tracks, a new esplanade for improved rail operations and new electric-powered reach stackers to replace the existing diesel ones.
“This investment will enhance connectivity for exporters and importers in northern Spain and southern France with over 200 ports through the Port of Barcelona,” added Belcastro.
