Kalmar and Patrick seal decade deal

The announcement came during celebrations marking 20 years of automated straddle operations at Patrick’s Brisbane AutoStrad Terminal.

“Patrick Terminals looks forward to continuing our close collaboration with Kalmar, building on two decades of automation leadership,” said chief executive Michael Jovicic, placing the deal firmly in the context of rising national supply-chain pressures.

The agreement commits Kalmar to maintaining a sizeable local automation team to support both current and future projects across Patrick’s terminals. Patrick sees the arrangement as essential to its roadmap, which includes more automation, tighter safety protocols and progress on decarbonisation targets.

For Kalmar, the decade-long extension shores up its foothold in Oceania ahead of a leadership change early next year.

“Kalmar is pleased to announce our shared commitment to pursue continuous improvement and operational excellence together with Patrick Terminals,” said Karri Keskinen, who will take over as Kalmar’s head of Oceania in January 2026.

He said the agreement ‘further strengthens opportunities to deliver efficient and competitive straddle solutions in the Oceania region’.
