Planning approval to boost London Gateway

Thurrock Council in Essex approved the LDO which aims to streamline planning processes for new construction projects, ensuring all developments meet the BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ sustainability classification.

With this LDO, new builds at the park will receive final approval within just 28 days, enabling a rapid turnaround from lease agreements to construction, making it a prime location for investment.

“Our new 10-year LDO, combined with our fantastic access to transport connections and important markets, makes London Gateway Logistics Park well placed to continue our rapid growth,” said Alan Holland, chief executive – DP World London Gateway Logistics Park.

“This planning milestone reinforces London Gateway as a world-class logistics and technology hub.”

London Gateway is the UK’s largest logistics facility, with connections to key markets. To date, half of its 9 million sqft (836,000 sqm) site has been developed. This year, the park welcomed its first two manufacturing tenants, Destiny Entertainments and Ranson.

The park also benefits from its position within the Thames Freeport, which offers tax benefits to tenants. The original 10-year LDO, established in 2013, saw the creation of 17 facilities, 1,500 jobs and 4 million sqft (372,000 sqm) of new space.
