The expansion adds 2,000 metres of continuous quay length, enabling simultaneous handling of multiple mega container vessels and significantly boosting India’s maritime infrastructure.

“PSA Mumbai’s Phase 2 expansion brings together capacity, connectivity and sustainability in a terminal for India – a catalyst for advancing India’s trade ambitions,” said Ong Kim Pong, group chief executive of PSA International.

The SGD 1.7 billion (US$1.3 billion) investment under a public-private partnership model marks the largest foreign direct investment from Singapore in India to date. The inauguration was held on 4 September 2025, with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong addressing the event virtually from New Delhi.

A special video presentation highlighted PSA Mumbai’s rail connectivity, with six dedicated freight corridor-compatible (DFC) tracks linking the terminal to over 63 inland container depots nationwide. The terminal’s DFC-ready infrastructure aligns with India’s PM Gati Shakti vision for integrated and sustainable logistics.

Built across 200 hectares, the facility integrates renewable-powered equipment and continues the electrification of its diesel fleet, ensuring a sustainable boost to trade. PSA Mumbai has also generated over 1,500 skilled jobs, enhancing employment in India’s port sector.
