Turkey opens Tekirdağ Çeşmeli tender

The project site is located in the Çeşmeli neighbourhood of the Marmaraereğlisi district in Tekirdağ and is currently owned by Türkiye Denizcilik İşletmeleri. Unlike many port privatisations that involve existing terminals and operations, the Tekirdağ Çeşmeli Port project is designed as a greenfield investment.

The absence of active port infrastructure provides investors with the opportunity to develop a modern port facility from the ground up, aligned with current technological, environmental and logistical standards.

Under approved zoning plans, the winning bidder will be able to determine the type of port facility to be developed in line with its commercial strategy. Necessary permits have already been secured within the scope of relevant legislation to allow pilotage and towage services in the port area. The operator will be contractually required to complete construction of the port within a maximum period of ten years.

The tender covers both the coastal port area and the adjacent hinterland. Operating rights will be transferred for a period of 45 years, providing a long-term strategic position in one of Türkiye’s most dynamic trade corridors.

Final bids must be submitted by 25 March 2026. Tender documentation is available for TRY 150,000 (US$3,473) and participation requires a provisional guarantee of TRY 70 million (US$1.62 million).

The financial structure is based on a USD-denominated annual operating right fee, with a payment schedule designed to accommodate the capital-intensive nature of greenfield port development, particularly during construction and early operations.
