ESPO ‘Green Guide’ to be launched at Congress
The European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) will launch the new ‘Green Guide’ at this year’s GreenPort Congress which takes place in Marseille from 3 to 5 October 2012.
Delegates attending the Congress will receive a copy of the guide which follows on from the ESPO Environmental Code of Practice (1994) – the first official policy document ever published by ESPO.
The Green Guide is the organisation’s third publication in which the environmental objectives of the maritime sector are defined. The main purpose of the guide is to encourage port authorities to commit to sustainable development and push the continuous improvement of their environmental operation and best practices between ports in Europe. It also aims to push port authorities to pro-actively take responsibility and meet the expectations of the community.
This year’s GreenPort Congress will be hosted by Marseille Fos Port Authority and supported by ESPO, EFIP, ECOPORTS and the European Shippers’ Council.
