PATCH creates industry webinars

Following on from its ‘blue energy’ workshop which focused on the potential of wave and tidal power for ports, held on 22 June 2012, the PATCH project is now offering three webinars to PATCH ports and port networks.

The first of the online training seminars, EU ports policy and challenges for the 21st century, focuses on how the European port system and policy outline will tackle competitiveness and sustainable development, transport growth, environmental pressure and technological change, in an increasingly globalised market.

Hosted by the Directorate General for Regional Policy, the EU blue growth strategy and the implications of the EU Cohesion Post 2012 seminar will focus on the key components and objectives of the emerging EU Cohesion Policy and how the true potential of Europe’s marine resources can be utilised. It will also looks at the European Commission’s integrated ‘Blue Growth Strategy’.

Due to the lack of support from banks and national governments, the third seminar, The future of EU financing and investment for small and medium sized ports, will concentrate on the European Investment Bank and its latest approaches in transport, ports and renewable energy sectors.
