GPA unveils trucker efficiency app

With an average of 14,000 to 16,000 gate moves daily, the GPA Trucker app is designed to improve efficiency, cut paperwork and reduce truck turn times.

“At GPA, we see drivers as our front-line customers, and we are always working to provide a superior customer experience,” said GPA president and chief executive Griff Lynch.

“Helping truckers solve problems before they arrive at our gates improves overall efficiency for them and for the cargo owners who choose Georgia Ports.”

Available on iOS and Android, GPA Trucker allows drivers to track container transactions, receive real-time updates and access digital tickets using facial recognition or fingerprint login. The app also alerts drivers to gate hour changes, weather advisories and guides them to the closest terminal entry gate.

Turn times currently average 35 minutes for single moves and 53 minutes for dual moves. By using the app, drivers can potentially make six to eight deliveries per day.

The app also digitises the PIN ticketing system, improving the handling of 72-hour container access codes. In future updates, tickets will be pushed automatically to drivers, eliminating the need to manually search within the app.

Upcoming features include navigation via Waze or Apple Maps, helping truckers more easily locate containers on terminal grounds.
