Kalmar taps TCS for AI

The partnership will see TCS lead a full IT service transformation aimed at simplifying Kalmar’s systems while making them more agile and cost-efficient. Central to the effort is the creation of a modern, integrated, AI-powered digital core designed to support Kalmar’s global operations and long-term business strategy.

“Our decision to partner with TCS is built on the confidence gained from a successful history of collaboration,” said Kalmar chief information officer, Tero Lehtonen. “We are convinced by the ability of TCS in establishing a modern, agile, and AI-first IT foundation for Kalmar.”

As part of the agreement, TCS will consolidate Kalmar’s existing IT landscape into a single delivery model covering application development and maintenance, end-user services and infrastructure and hybrid cloud operations.

An AI-driven operations framework and a unified command centre will be introduced to improve system visibility, reliability and performance across Kalmar’s international footprint.

The collaboration also places a strong emphasis on people. TCS will work to make day-to-day work more efficient for Kalmar’s 5,200 employees by using AI to enable better human-machine interaction.

From TCS’s side, the project is seen as a long-term commitment. TCS has operated in the Nordic region since 1991 and today employs around 20,000 consultants across Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway, with its Stockholm-based TCS Pace Studio supporting regional innovation initiatives.
