Liebherr unveils remote crane simulator

Liebherr Container Cranes has unveiled a new crane simulator tailored for remote operator station (ROS) controlled ship-to-shore container cranes.

Liebherr LiSIM ROS Training

Developed by the same engineers responsible for Liebherr’s actual cranes, the LiSIM ROS simulates key operational dynamics such as load sway, inertia and response, ensuring that operators build real-world proficiency.

Covering a full range of STS crane functions from start-up and shutdown to container handling and hatch cover operations, the simulator supports skill transfer from training to live crane environments.

The system is engineered to support operator development at all stages, from recruitment and initial training to upskilling and long-term retention. Realistic vessel and terminal scenarios allow users to build muscle memory and situational awareness in a safe, emissions-free setting. Unlike traditional training, sessions can be conducted at any time without taking equipment out of service, significantly reducing operational costs.

The LiSIM ROS includes a comprehensive instructor station with dual displays, 3D control and a 360° drone-style view for real-time monitoring. Customisable training scenarios with adjustable difficulty enable targeted learning, while the integrated LiSIM Driver Analysis system quantifies every action, offering objective performance data.

Supporting both novice and experienced operators, the LiSIM ROS is available globally.
