Port of Bilbao showcases innovation
Bilbao PortLab, the innovation hub of the Port of Bilbao, recently hosted the final demonstration day for two cutting-edge projects funded by the Ports 4.0 Fund, supported by the State Ports Authority (Puertos del Estado).
Both projects, led by Navozyme Maritime Technologies and CLCircular, showcased significant technological advances aimed at boosting digitalisation, sustainability and operational efficiency in port logistics.
Navozyme presented NSwap, a digital platform designed to transform the issuance and management of MARPOL e-declarations. This tool, which uses blockchain-enabled certificate, facilitates secure, real-time data exchange among service providers, crew, shipping agents and port authorities.
In addition, Navozyme introduced NMap, which optimises data exchange for pre-arrival and ship clearance declarations, including modules for hazardous goods.
The project benefitted from collaboration with TRADEBE, Alfaship Shipping Agency and multiple port authorities, allowing real-world validation of the solutions.
CLCircular’s project delivered a redesigned cloud platform, a new generation of IoT sensors and validated batteries and sensors. These innovations enable efficient reverse logistics of IoT sensors to over 400 destinations, with real-time monitoring of transported goods, including perishable produce like fruit and vegetables.
The event highlighted the effective collaboration between start-ups, companies and the port community, with Bilbao PortLab and the Port of Bilbao strengthening their role as hubs for innovative, competitive and efficient port operations.
