The company’s air and ocean freight customers worldwide can now see the carbon footprint of their shipments within its web-based services ‘DHLi Public Tracking’ and ‘Active Tracing’.

“More and more customers demand a precise calculation of their individual carbon emissions when shipping goods,” said Roger Crook, CEO, DHL Global Forwarding, Freight.

“The European Standard and the new regulation by the French government on the calculation of greenhouse gas emissions for transport services further add to this trend. By implementing the report feature in our already existing tracking tools, we get ahead of competition and offer our customers individual reports that are easy to access,” he added.

DHL customers are required to enter their shipment ID and click on the CO2 footprint button online to receive individual carbon footprint statement of their shipments. The system then provides the user with an individual carbon emissions notification.

Last year, DHL expanded its GoGreen environmental services with two new carbon reporting services, DHL GoGreen Carbon Estimate and DHL GoGreen Carbon Footprint.

The aim was to provide US importers and exporters with transparency of their carbon emissions.
