DP World seeks green agenda feedback

The operator says that feedback will be used to better its green objectives and help improve its environmental responsibilities going forward.

“We are committed to being world leaders in sustainability. It is as important to us commercially as it is to the societies in which we operate,” said Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO, DP World.

He said that DP World’s Our World, Our Future programme has created a platform for its people to get involved, move forward and make a big difference in the communities in which they live and work.

One of the operator’s largest major global focuses is education and helping develop a talent pipeline for the sector.

Its flagship Global Education Programme sees employees volunteer their time to deliver educational programmes on trade and logistics to eight to 14-year-olds in schools around the world. Modules improve children’s specific skills, such as numeracy and increase their knowledge of sustainability and careers in the global trade and logistics industry.

In addition, it’s committed to educating school children on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through its partnership with IMPACT2030, a business sector led initiative focused on mobilising employees to achieve the SDGs.

The survey asks stakeholders’ views on emissions and renewable energy, climate change, ocean protection, waste management and recycling and community engagement.

Going forward it asks which community programmes it should be involved in including education, clean water and sanitation programmes and ocean protection.
