Dunkirk moves ahead with logistics park
Dunkirk Port is moving ahead with the development of a 145-hectare sustainable logistics park after being granted the local authority decree on Protected Species – vital for all development projects.
The Dunkerque Logistique International Sud (DLI-Sud) logistics platform will be located in the Loon-Plage district of the western port. It will cover an area of 145.7 hectares and will be provided with road and rail links to meet the increasing demands of the sector.
Dunkirk Port has been focussing on the implementation of the environmental policy ‘Avoid, Reduce and Offset’ to ensure the existing natural fauna and flora habitats, which cover an area of almost 9 hectares, are protected by the project.
Outside the area, nearly 30 hectares of diversified habitats will be recreated, including wetlands, meadows and woodlands.
Going forward, the public enquiry, which is currently in progress, will complete the project’s administrative approval procedure and lead to the issuance of the ‘Water Law’ decree. This would allow work to begin in early 2016.
New logistics and industrial installations will take place during 2016.
