Electrical power in Mauritius
Port Louis in Mauritius has announced that it will be replacing its current diesel power generation facilities with electric power.
The facilities currently run on heavy fuel oil (HFO) and the change is set to improve fuel efficiency by 25% as well as reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
This project will be provided by Burneister and Wain Scandinavian Contractor A/S which is owned by Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding.
Over the last 20 years, it has previously delivered nine power generating units to the Central Electricity Board in Mauritius and is continuing to support the country’s conversion to electric power.
The project is expected to be completed in early 2017.
