OOCL accredited for environmental data

OOCL has obtained certification for the second time after going through an audit carried out by Norwegian classification society, Det Norske Veritas (DNV).

DNV used the Clean Cargo Working Group (CCWG) verification standard to check for the carbon dioxide and sulphur oxides emissions of OOCL’s vessels.

“We are very delighted and proud to receive our certification that verifies the high level of accuracy, transparency and credibility of our environmental data from our environmental reporting system,” said S C James Tai, general manager, fleet management, OOCL.

“We believe this annual verification reinforces and improves our environmental performance and at the same time helps our customers meet their environmental objectives by sharing with them accurate and reliable data to track and benchmark their carbon footprint,” he added.

DNV says OOCL has kept a clear and correct collection of documentation and records, which allow the stored data to be easily retrieved for assessment.

With this certification, OOCL says customers can use the OOCL Carbon Calculator to help measure CO2 emission levels to improve the environmental performance in their supply chains.
