ALPHERIUM, THE LARGEST barge-connected inland terminal in the Netherlands, has proved such a success since it opened for business in October 2010 that thefacility is already operating at capacity.

The Port of Rotterdam is thus employing the same "landlord" strategy that has proved successful in the development of deep sea.
