$1bn injection into Rosario’s ports

Argentina’s Minister of Transport, Guillermo Dietrich, has welcomed favourable government tax policies that have been responsible for a raft of new investment in ports in the Rosario Metropolitan area, which currently handles around 80% of trans-Andean agricultural output.

He explained that five companies – Terminal 6, Dreyfus, AGD, Molinos Agro and TPR – are to invest more than $1bn to help improve and boost exports of Argentinian agricultural produce.

“Terminal 6 is building a new barge terminal, and AGD is investing $200m on a quay at Timbúes,” he said. “In addition, Renova is paying out $450m to increase its production by 50%.”

He added that the $70m being invested by Molinos Agro would generate 1,100 jobs. As for TPR, in 2016, it doubled its box throughput compared with 2015 and has already grown the business by a further 30% in 2017.
