Chileans to return to ports privatisation

Ports such as Valparaiso and San Antonio to be offered to the private sector, as are terminals in Coquimbo, Puerto Montt, Punta Arenas, Chacabuco and Talcahuano. Current operators Saam, Agunsa, Ultramar and Puerto Lirquén are expected to be joined by global operators such as Ports America, PSA, HPH and APM Terminals.

The State is also to invest $400m between 2010 and 2013 on upgrading port infrastructure for both freight and passengers. Since 2008, private investors have also spend $340m on port upgrades.
