Expiry date set for Buenos Aires terminals

All will now terminate on May 15, 2020, allowing the port authority to issue a single concession covering all current terminals, despite the fact that many of those in the industry, both domestic and foreign, are opposed to this.

Terminales Río de la Plata (TRP), which operates terminals 1, 2 and 3; Terminal 4; and Buenos Aires Container Terminal Services Sociedad Anónima (Bactssa), which holds the concession for Terminal 5, will all disappear in two years’ time.

Mr Dietrich noted that both Terminal 4 and TRP agreed that the expiry date of their own concessions could be extended, thereby bringing all five terminals into line. Terminal 4’s concession had been due for renewal in February 2019 and TRP’s in May 2019, while Bactssa’s concession was to end in May 2020.
