ISS warns of impending Argentinian strike

The Union-backed strike will see stoppages in a number of ports by stevedores, truck, bus and train drivers, pilot boat masters, linesmen and tug boat operators.

Gabriel Curtarelli, general manager, ISS Argentina, said: “During the strike, we expect to see operations at the Port of San Lorenzo-Rosario delayed by a day.”

Areas expected to be particularly affected are transits at Zona comun and pilot boat operations through Rio de la Plata and the Parana River.

“The strike will affect all cargoes destined for the port and ships will be required to remain at anchorage if they have been unable to berth prior to commencement of the strike,” he added.

In addition, tug boat operatives and stevedores at the ports of Buenos Aires, Necochea and Bahia Blanca have said they will join the strike.
