New ports law for Buenos Aires

The framework document suggests introducing an integrated system that encompasses all operational maritime ports within the province. As part of this, there will be new mechanisms to encourage investment, while at the same time ensuring that there is a commonality in the way that ports are managed and generate jobs.

The province of Buenos Aires is unusual in Argentina in that it does not yet have in place its own regulatory system for ports, in contrast to all of the country’s other provinces. However, this was not the case prior to 1992 when a port agency oversaw activities, something which the current politicians wish to replicate.
