Panama’s Chamber of Commerce backs Corozal

Rommel Troetsch, president of Panama’s Chamber of Commerce, has said that it is fundamental that the country builds a sixth port to satisfy market needs and that this should be implemented as part of an industrial development plan for this sector.

The former head of Panama Ports Company also said that Panama needs to have an abundant supply of ports, which will allow shipping lines to identify it as a leader in transhipment traffic.

In addition to the new port of Corozal, he said before 2026 there will need to be further discussions on the need for another new port.

Mr Troetsch said that the state had signed a $600,000 contract with consultants, who have been tasked with drawing up a strategic development plan to identify additional opportunities that there are out there in the market.
