Unions discuss future of Costa Rican ports

Port unions in Costa Rica remain confident that an agreement can be reached with the government regarding the future of the Limón-Moín port concession.

They recognise that current infrastructure is inadequate, although suggest that the advantageous geographical position of the country does give its advantages and should therefore attract investment.

Port workers were offered a $137m compensation package last year, of which $100m would be paid by the concessionaire. This was welcomed, in principle, by the union members.
