CMA CGM Group battles cyber attack
CMA CGM Group said it has fallen victim to a cyber attack but its security remains uncompromised.
The French container transportation and shipping business reported the attack on 28 September. The attack excluded CEVA Logistics.
“The CMA CGM Group, who was the subject of a cyber attack, interrupted as a precautionary measure all external accesses to their network and computer applications in order to prevent the spread of the malware. This malware was able to be rapidly isolated and all necessary protection measures implemented,” said the business.
It confirmed that maritime and port operations are functioning as normal and confidential information was not accessed as a result of the cyber attack.
“All communications to and from the CMA CGM Group are secure, including emails, transmitted files and electronic data interfaces (EDI).”
It said it had temporarily suspended all access to its eCommerce websites.
CMA CGM’s port operators, TERMINAL LINK and CMA TERMINALS, manage a total of 45 terminals worldwide.
CMA TERMINALS is fully owned by CMA CGM. TERMINAL LINK is 51% owned by CMA CGM and 49% owned by China Merchants Holdings International.
MSC suffered a network outage caused by a malware attack in April.
